Ross Cooper music

Ross was born and raised 10 miles north of Los Angeles in the city of Glendale, CA. In his youth, Ross showed immense propensity towards music and other creative endeavors by learning the piano and improvising his own music at the age of 6 and later teaching himself the viola at 13. After high school,  Ross studied music at the University of Nevada Las Vegas College of Fine Arts. He also studied recording technology, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Music.

His first opportunity to score a film came through a family friend who was producing World War II documentaries for his non-profit organization, Let Freedom Ring. Even though Ross didn’t have access to a symphony orchestra to record, he used the best in sampling technology available to him at the UNLV Recording Studio. He composed and produced all of the music in a matter of one week’s time for each documentary. Both documentaries are currently being aired on over 80 PBS stations across the country.

Through this project, Ross came in contact with Outpost Worldwide, a production company based in Kansas City, KS. Impressed with the scope of his work in a short amount of time, he was offered small jobs through various projects Outpost Worldwide was producing, namely its own company logo as well as the pilot for a TV series.

Currently, Ross lives in Las Vegas and recently completed the music to latest Let Freedom Ring documentary, “Remembering the Fallen Heroes of the MIGHTY EIGHTH”. It has been showing on PBS stations across the country. He is also working on a short film due to be released at festivals in the fall as well as contemplating starting the film scoring program at UCLA in Fall 2012.
